What Should Be Included in a Solar Panel Pigeon Proofing Quote?

A good solar panel pigeon proofing quote should explain exactly what areas are being protected, what cleanup is included, what materials will be used, and what happens if pigeons get back underneath the panels.

Do not compare quotes based only on the final price. Two companies can quote the same house while including very different amounts of work.

1. Which Solar Panels Are Being Protected?

The quote should clearly state which solar arrays are included.

If your home has multiple separate groups of panels, make sure every array that needs protection is listed.

Ask whether the company is enclosing:

  • The entire exposed perimeter

  • Every separate solar array

  • Corners and roof transitions

  • Difficult to reach sides of the panels

A quote that only says “pigeon proof solar panels” can leave too much room for interpretation.

2. Is Cleaning Under the Solar Panels Included?

This is one of the biggest differences between pigeon proofing quotes.

If pigeons have been nesting underneath the panels, there may be:

  • Nests

  • Nesting material

  • Droppings

  • Feathers

  • Other debris

Ask whether the company is actually cleaning underneath the array or simply removing what is visible around the edges.

Cheetah offers bird nest removal from underneath solar panels as part of applicable pigeon control projects.

3. Is Roof and Ground Cleanup Included?

Cleaning underneath the panels can send debris off the roof.

Ask what happens to it.

Depending on the project, Cheetah may use tarps to catch debris and clean affected driveways, walkways, patios, or other ground areas.

The quote should make clear whether cleanup and disposal are included rather than leaving you with bird debris around the property afterward.

4. What Type of Bird Mesh Will Be Used?

Not all mesh installations are the same.

Cheetah uses black PVC coated galvanized steel mesh around solar arrays.

We generally prefer continuous roll mesh that is cut and fitted on the roof rather than surrounding the system with many small independent sections.

Ask the contractor:

  • What material is being installed?

  • Is the mesh coated?

  • Is it continuous roll or precut sections?

  • How will it be fitted around roof tiles and corners?

5. How Is the Mesh Attached?

Solar panel pigeon proofing should normally use a non invasive attachment method that does not require drilling holes into the solar panel frames.

Cheetah also generally prefers metal solar panel clips rather than plastic clips because of concerns about long term plastic durability on Arizona rooftops.

Ask exactly how the mesh will be secured before approving the quote.

6. Is Solar Panel Cleaning Included?

Do not assume it is.

Some pigeon proofing quotes only cover exclusion. Others may include cleaning the surface of the solar panels as part of the project.

Cheetah's solar panel cleaning service uses purified or deionized water and a non abrasive brush on the panel surface.

If cleaning matters to you, make sure it appears in writing.

7. Are Other Nesting Areas Included?

Pigeons are not always limited to the solar panels.

They may also be using:

  • Eaves

  • Roof overlaps

  • AC units

  • Ledges

  • Other protected roof areas

Those areas may require different solutions such as eave mesh exclusion, bird spikes, or tensioned bird wire.

The quote should distinguish between what is included and what would cost extra.

8. What Does the Warranty Actually Cover?

Do not settle for “it comes with a warranty.”

Ask:

  • How long is it?

  • What happens if pigeons get back underneath the protected area?

  • Is labor included?

  • Are materials included?

  • What happens if a roofer or solar company removes the mesh?

  • Are areas outside the protected section excluded?

The written warranty matters more than the word “warranty” appearing on the estimate.

9. Is the Company Insured?

Pigeon proofing requires working on your roof and around solar equipment.

Ask for proof of insurance before hiring the company.

A very low quote may sometimes reflect differences in materials, cleanup, labor, insurance overhead, warranty coverage, or the amount of work actually included.

Lower price does not automatically mean worse work, and higher price does not automatically mean better work. Compare the scope.

How Much Should Solar Panel Pigeon Proofing Cost?

Most Cheetah solar panel pigeon proofing projects fall around $900 to $1,900.

Larger or more complicated projects can reach approximately $4,000, depending on the amount of cleanup, roof access, solar layout, exposed perimeter, and additional bird control work.

A smaller or limited scope project may cost less.

The Bottom Line

Before choosing a pigeon proofing company, make sure the quote answers four basic questions:

What are you protecting? What are you cleaning? What materials are you installing? What happens if there is a problem later?

If those answers are unclear, ask before approving the work.

Cheetah provides solar panel pigeon proofing in Arizona, including cleanup and exclusion options based on the needs of the property.
